About

Visions worth sharing

UU Talks encourages students of Utrecht University (UU) to meet on a platform, to share and discuss their visions, ideas, passions and thoughts. Providing UU students with an opportunity to express their innovative approaches, every talks is a vehicle to transport creative solutions for challenging problems of the 21th century.

We want to make use of the vast knowledge of our students, allowing them to talk and inspire each other. We believe that research is only as useful as it is communicated with the possibility to be practised and implemented in the outside world to provide an improvement for people and the environment.

Quality criteria

Any student, regardless of his or her study background, can sign up for a talk. A talk must fulfill the following criteria:
  • First and foremost: Reflect the passion that you follow by heart
  • Have relevance in a wider context
  • Provide entertainment to the audience
  • Be coherent
  • Be translatable to the real world
  • Propose a solution or personal statement to the topic

Organisation

Starting in January 2014, we arrange one UU Talk with two keynote speakers per month. The UU Talks take place in the space of the Green Office and take about 90 minutes. Joining the Talks either as a speaker or audience is completely free of charge. We take care of tasty food and some drinks so that you can fully enjoy the discussions. With the agreement of the speakers, we record every talk and publish it on our YouTube channel to make it available to an even wider public and invite everyone to join the discussion.

Make a change for a sustainable society and start to inspire!
